School Structure

Our Daily Schedule

Arrival

School opens at 07:30. We encourage all children to be at school by 08:15 at the latest. 

Free indoor / outdoor time (8:00 – 8:30)

The children choose to either work in the classroom or be outside. This is the start of the three-hour uninterrupted Montessori work cycle.

Montessori work time/ cycle (08:30 – 10:45)

All the children are in the classroom during this time, and they choose what they would like to work with in this work cycle. The directress presents individual and group lessons with the Montessori equipment. Each activity; whether practical life, sensorial, maths, language or culture, is set out on a tray which the child puts away once they have finished their work.

Circle time (10:45 – 11:00)

During this time the children sit in a circle with their directresses and go through the attendance register, sing songs, discuss the day, listen to each other’s news and talk about the weekly theme.

Snack time (11:00 – 11:15)

The children sit down for snack time.

Outdoor time (11:15 – 11:45)

The children play outside, under supervision

Wash hands & story time (11.45 – 12:00)

The children come in to wash their hands and the directress reads a story.

Home time (12:00 – 12:15)

The children sit in a circle with their directress until a parent or caregiver comes to fetch them.   They then shake hands and say goodbye to their directress before going home 

On Fridays the program is slightly different in that the children are divided into groups and each has an opportunity to take part in a craft or music activity. 

Please also note that the 2-3-year-old class follows the same program, but at different times in order to have outdoor play without the 3-6-year-old classes.

Aftercare (12:15 – 17:30) 

The afternoon is structured with nap time (at the parents request), an educational activity and supervised, free outdoor play time. The aftercare is very flexible to your needs and does not need to be booked in advance, as we take a daily register and add aftercare charges to your account at the end of the month.  Therefore, if you are running late unexpected, this will not be a problem.  Aftercare is only open to children currently enrolled at The Children’s Studio.

Aftercare fees are charged either for half day (12.15 to 15.15) or full day (12.15 to 17.30) only for the days attended.

 Extramural Activities

Optional extramural activities are available after the school program and are run independently, at an extra cost.  Yoga, Ballet, SoccerStarz, Monkeynastixs, Little Professors and Playball are currently available at the school.

Holiday Care

The day is structured with an educational / craft activities and supervised, free outdoor play time and an afternoon nap time (if parents request this).

We follow the government school calendar as a guideline and the school program is closed for the holidays. Days that holiday care is not available will be on the school calendar from the beginning of the year.   Holiday care runs up to 15 December and then reopens once school starts again in January.
